Abstract:
We consider the problem of optimally combining stochastically independent and costly sensors into an inspection policy that achieves maximal detection rate under limited operating budget. We introduce a precise mathematical model, describe the polytope of decision trees, define domination between policies, and show that all undominated policies can be generated by dynamic programming.
