Abstract:
I will give an overview of research at the SouthEast RVAC, which is built around an analytical reasoning framework supported by several visual analytics capabilities. I will then focus on specific visual analytics capabilities in financial visual analytics, broadcast news exploratory analysis, and a new project in patient health data analysis. The visual analytics tools developed here are general and extend well beyond their individual projects. They can also form the basis for collaborative efforts, where they will not only provide visual analyses for the existing data and results of the collaborators but will bring the ability to relate new data and results in a common analytical framework. Finally, I will discuss the long-range visual analytics vision that is emerging from all these efforts.
